A Bulldog is almost entirely face, and the face is almost entirely folds. Plush versions usually smooth them out, because wrinkles are difficult in fabric — and the result looks like a sad pug. We sculpted them instead.

What we sculpted into this one

• The rope over the nose and the folds around the muzzle, built into the pattern rather than printed on
• The undershot jaw with the lower lip sitting slightly proud — the expression the whole breed hangs on
• Rose ears, small and folded back, not the triangular flaps most plush default to
• A wide, low stance with heavy shoulders and a narrower rear — the pear-shaped silhouette seen from above
• Brindle and white coat, hand-airbrushed so the striping varies the way real brindle does
