A Cavalier's whole appeal sits in two features: enormous dark round eyes, and long ears covered in silky feathering that moves. Both are soft details, which makes them easy to approximate and hard to actually get right.

What we sculpted into this one

• Long feathered ears in longer, finer fiber than the body coat, set high and hanging with real weight
• Large, round, dark eyes, hand-set wide apart — oversized on purpose, because on a Cavalier they are
• Blenheim markings — rich chestnut on pearly white — hand-airbrushed with the irregular edges the pattern really has
• Feathering on the chest, legs, and tail, silky rather than fluffy
• A gently tapered muzzle with a shallow stop, avoiding the flat brachycephalic look
