Everything about a Dachshund is a ratio. The body has to be genuinely long relative to the legs, the muzzle has to be genuinely long relative to the skull, and the ears have to be genuinely too big. Soften any of those and you get a small brown dog.

• The full body length, held at true breed proportion — which is why this one measures 16 inches and reads noticeably longer than our other 16-inch plush
• A long, tapering muzzle with the nose set well forward
• Large rounded ears hanging flat against the cheeks
• Paddle-shaped front paws, turned slightly outward — the digging feet the breed was built around
• A short, sleek coat in shorter-pile faux fur, so the body shape reads clearly rather than disappearing into fluff
