This one is deliberately larger than life. A real Chihuahua weighs four pounds; ours is 16 inches, which makes it huggable in a way the actual dog never quite is. The proportions stay true to the breed — only the scale changes.

What we sculpted into this one

• The apple-dome skull — the rounded forehead that distinguishes the apple head from the deer head
• Oversized erect ears, set at roughly 45 degrees when relaxed, held at true breed proportion
• Large, round, luminous eyes, hand-set and slightly protruding
• A short pointed muzzle with a clean, well-defined stop
• A smooth short coat in fine short-pile fabric, with the delicate frame visible underneath
